Bummer, adding a few key services to Socialite like Reddit, Tumblr, LinkedIn and Ember would go a really long way toward making Socialite the social tool I turn to.
Quiet contemplation has led to its fair share of important thoughts. But it cannot be denied that good ideas also emerge in networks.
Yes, we are a little less focused, thanks to the electric stimulus of the screen. Yes, we are reading slightly fewer long-form narratives and arguments than we did 50 years ago, though the Kindle and the iPad may well change that. Those are costs, to be sure. But what of the other side of the ledger? We are reading more text, writing far more often, than we were in the heyday of television.
And the speed with which we can follow the trail of an idea, or discover new perspectives on a problem, has increased by several orders of magnitude. We are marginally less focused, and exponentially more connected. That’s a bargain all of us should be happy to make.

I take five or six screenshots every day on the iPhone, this would drive me nuts. Perhaps I just need a more ubiquitous workflow for transferring data between applications and my computer; I clearly need to use Pastebot more.
Still, that’s a pain in the ass.
I thought about how I stormed out the front door to my car and how the thought of leaving my cardkey at reception had actually crossed my mind. I walked out of the movie and I sat in my car. I took my cardkey out of my wallet and after concluding that I should lose the ponytail, I told myself, “You idiot. This is your invitation to change the world.” I went back to the office and got right back to it.
[In truth, I cranked the Descendents really loud (“You can only be a victim if you… admit defeat”) and flamed Herr Clownshoes to a crisp in wzmail, and then I promptly got back to it.]
Since that crappy day 17 years ago, every.single.time I’ve swiped that damned cardkey I’ve reminded myself of that invitation from The Tribe and our shared purpose.
I repeat the phrase silently in my head and I take it seriously. It’s not about me, it’s not about my career, it’s not about the project or the product or the profit – it’s about the central purpose and obligation we share to change the world and to build stuff that allows our customers and partners to do the same.

“Clitoral scroll wheel?” LMAO.
This, Braithwaite argued, is the sort of freedom of play you generally can’t achieve in digital games. The tactile details of the game (the train openings are too small for the Jew pieces, so you’ve got to cram them in there, which becomes a sort of horrifying action once players realize exactly what they’re doing) and the “complexity of human choice” the board game format allows simply wouldn’t work in a computer.
The board itself sits on a frame filled with broken glass (presumably representing Krystallnacht). At one point when showcasing the game, a Rabbi saw the board, paused, and said that he understood what the game was about.
“I don’t want to play it,” he said. “You just did,” Brathwaite replied.

Does anyone at Gizmodo have any class? I hope not, I’d hate to be a good guy associated a publication so intent on self-destruction.
